Before you will be misled about “Ruga Settlements”, Please read this, and thank me later.
The Land Use Act, enacted in 1978, vested all urban land within a state in the state governor, and all non-urban land in the local governments in which they are found, there is no way Federal Government would make use of any land in a particular state without the approval of such state.
Where I’m more confused is, why would Federal Government has to chose Tarka, Ukum and Otukpo LGAs to establish Ruga Settlements where there’s no River, when pastoralists desperately need water to feed there Cattle? This Federal Government must be a wicked one fa.
Again why must this Federal Government has to choose Tarka, Ukum and Otukpo when Guma is sitting along the River Bank, With Agatu and Logo LGAs?
Look, there’s more to this than meet an eye.
More confusing is, unlike before, I mean before general elections when the Governor would go on Television to say that the state has no land for grazing and Cattle colonies, why must it be Terver Akase who has to address the press conference this time?
Me I’m saying my own. Nobody should enter into agreement with Federal Government to donate our land for “Ruga Settlements” and then come back to confuse with a lengthy Press statement. We are too educated to be misled
On the final note, there is no land for Ruga Settlements in Benue state and those who rigged election should not use our land to negotiate for soft landing at the Federal Level.
